Salam..I'm studying at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Tanjung Malim Perak in Master of Education (Biology)..I'm graduated from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Nilai Negeri Sembilan in Bachelor of Science with Honours (Food Biotechnology).. Actually I'm a greenhorn in education field and did not have any experiences on teaching.. My background is more to research and innovation in sciences and I have experienced work as a Research Assistant and Demonstrator..But...I love to teach and that's why I'm here..So now I must work hard and smart to learn more about teaching and learning concepts..I'll try my best..InsyaAllah...

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)..Erm maybe all of you like to watch this series..They can caught the criminal and solve many problems..But do you know how they works?? They analysed the DNA sample of the suspects and matched it with the sample from the crime scene DNA..It calls DNA profiling or DNA fingerprinting..Another uses of DNA profiling are parentage testing, victim identification in mass disasters, animal identification (race horses) and also in conservation biology and evolutionary studies..

my reflection


The initial reflection of my lesson plan is the concept of mitosis is complex because it involves the movement of the cell in our body. The student cannot imagine of what they learn without the simulation aid. They must understand each stages of mitosis precisely.


The reflection after is most of the student can explain the process of mitosis with the aids of diagrams. The problem that I have been facing during this session is the cooperativeness from the students is weak. During the presentation, most of them do not want to volunteer to present and draw the diagrams of the mitosis. It is hard to ask them to take a part to present and involved in this work eventhough they know about the process. The confidence level of them is low and they hesitate to speak out and give their opinions. To overcome it, I have said that it is the quizzes time and they have to compete among themselves. Then, the technique was solvable and they become more attractive to involve and ask a question. To improve my teaching styles, I will give them more task that need a cooperative from the students to involve such as cooperative learning or Problem Based Learning (PBL). In addition, computer simulation also can be used to attract them and make them enjoy during learning process. The animation and audio from the simulation will help them to better understand about the process and relate it in their daily life because they can see the process directly. So, they will be more creative and critical thinkers in learning.

Final Year Project

During my undergraduate study, i've make a research project about Isolation and characterization of lactic acid bacteria in Malaysian's fermented foods; fermented maman and fermented rebung. I've got A for this project and I'm really satisfied when completed this research. Actually our fermented foods have lactic acid bacteria same as yogurt which can improve the intestinal tract. So, why choose yogurt..Eat our own food..

Osmosis

This is the lesson plan's slide presentation of my group. We've choose the osmosis in red blood cells as the topic to teach students and give them widen view about the osmosis. The concept of osmosis in red blood cells are complex to teach without using computer simulation because it involves the molecular movement, the obtain do not accomplished the theory and it is a problem to get the fresh blood samples.

my teaching philosophy

Learning is the main purpose of education. It is the goal of every student and the task of every teacher to increase knowledge and understanding in the classroom.

My teaching philosophy is easy. I will make my class such a wonderful place to learn and make the students feel comfortable to study and share the knowledge. As a teacher, I need to make education as enjoyable and beneficial as possible to for students. By teachers acting in all of these manners, a student's education will be more complete and enjoyable than one in which a student only sees the teacher in the classroom.


Group interaction is an important part of learning. Being able to share ideas, validate the students with those of others and teamwork are important processes in social and mental development. I should also be prepared to lead students in the direction they should go to reach correct conclusions and answers, without always providing the answers themselves. The students who are a passive person can learn to speak out during the group discussion and lead them to be confident to speak and confront with the public.

One way to take learning in a direction relevant to student interest is to invite student dialogue about the lessons and units of study. Given the opportunity for input, students generate ideas and set goals that make for much richer activities than I could have created or imagined myself. When students have ownership in the curriculum, they are motivated to work hard and master the skills necessary to reach their goals.

In our competitive society it is important for students to not only receive a solid education, but to work with someone who is aware of and sensitive to their individual needs. I am such a person and will always strive to be the best educator that I can be. It is what I feel about education, and what I want my students to feel when they leave my classroom.

This competition was held at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Penang. I’m a Silver Medal Winner with my project entitled Malaysian’s Fermented Foods. All of Universities in Malaysia joined the competition.
